NNL to Honour Plateau, Benue Governors, Kaduna Commissioner at Abuja Awards Ceremony

The Nigeria National League (NNL) has announced plans to honour key government officials for their contributions to sports development and grassroots football in the country.

Those to be recognized at the event which would be held simultaneously with the NNL/Prostar/Sportlight hub monthly award include the Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, the Governor of Benue State, Rev FR. Hyacinth Iormem Alia and the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government in Kaduna State, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos.

The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 30, 2026, in Abuja.

According to NNL, the recognition is aimed at celebrating leaders who have demonstrated strong commitment to the growth of football, particularly at the grassroots level, through infrastructure development, youth engagement, and policy support.

The event will also feature the presentation of monthly player awards, highlighting outstanding performances across the Nigeria National League.

Sports stakeholders, club officials, and football enthusiasts are expected to attend the ceremony, which promises to be a gathering of key figures in Nigerian football.

Organisers say the initiative underscores the importance of collaboration between government institutions and sports bodies in driving sustainable development in the sector.
