NYG : Expect great things from us- Alfred sisters
..As duo hint of improvement in future events
Following the final medal presentation in the swimming event at the ongoing Youth Games, the Alfred-Olajide sisters have insisted on improved performance in future events.
15-year-old Atinuke Alfred-Olajide won two gold in 50m Breaststroke and 100m Breaststroke while 13-year-old younger sister, Boluwatife Alfred-Olajide followed her footsteps by clinching two gold in 50m Breaststroke and 100m Breaststroke.
Excited Atinuke Alfred-Olajide expressed her unresolved happiness after she came out tops in her two main events.
The young swimmer said she would continue to develop and improve her game.
“I feel very happy winning gold here, yea. I’m very grateful, and I think I can improve my game even more.”
“Also, Bayelsa State should expect great things from me with hard work and training. I look forward to making my state and nation proud.” Atinuke stated.
Similarly, Boluwatife Alfred-Olajide maintained that the joy of winning laurels at this stage will contribute immensely to her development.
“I felt really happy because I knew I could achieve it, and it’s really good to win gold.”
“I know the expectation is now high on the family, but I will keep getting better and working hard because I see myself in so many international events and the Olympics, probably.” Boluwatife said.
In total, team Bayelsa won four gold, two silver, and 1 bronze in the swimming event at the Asaba 2024 Youth Games.
