Okeyemi leaders accuse self acclaimed Baale, Hector Ifekoya of defying High Court Order, hosting town meeting

Leaders of Okeyemi Community located along Ibadan- Ijebu- Ode, Ijebu- Ode, Ogun State have accused the self acclaimed Baale of the town Chief Hector Ifekoya of defying a High Court Order by conveying an illegal meeting of the town.
In a statement they issued and made available to newsmen, they stated that on Friday April, 25th, he summoned an emergency meeting of the town even when there was a substituting Court Order against such thereby committing what the elders say is contemp of Court

“On the 25th of April 2024 at about 7:30 pm, one Mr. Adebisi Ifekoya (a younger Brother of Chief Hector Ifekoya) acting as town crier announced to the entire community that the Baale (Chief Hector Ifekoya) will be having an emergency meeting with the entire community members by 10 am at his residence and that It was mandatory for all inhabitants to be in attendance.

“By exactly 10 am vehicles and motor-bike conveying people began to troop in from the neighboring villages and by 10.30am the canopies he rented had been occupied.
“The meeting he chaired as Baale commenced with prayers by him, after which he welcomed and addressed the gatherings. He told them that the crises in the town have been settled, and they are now back to their usual business.

The elders further alleged that in the meeting, they spoke extensively about the new strategy to adopt for them to continue their control of the community just as they noted that speakers at the occasion included the Ekeji Ilu his second in command Mr. Abiodun Safiriyu who begged for forgiveness in case he had offended any one of them and also told the gathering that he has forgiven those that offended him.

According to them in his welcome address at the illegal meeting, Mr Oluwa Gbenga Rotimi Oluomo the Balogun of Okeyemi also lend credence to the fact that since the crises is over with their triumph over the situation they should take full control of the community including its resources which was a lie.

Furthermore, Chief Runsewe Orelaja the Araba from Iperin who has no root whatsoever in the town of Okeyemi also in his own address retreated the fact that now that they are fully back on track, they should sell more lands and make sure his own share of the proceeds gets to him as usual.

The elders went further to identify members of his cabinet that attended the meeting to include messrs; Abiodun Safiriyu, Ekeji Ilu, Oluwa Gbenga Rotimi Oluomo the Balogun of Okeyemi, Debola Adedeji Olotun of Aledo and Adele Baale of Iperin representing Iperin town.

” The elders said that this information becomes important inorder to inform members of the community and unsuspecting public that the meeting was illegal as a Court of competent jurisdiction has warned him against parading himself as Baale or acting in that capacity in any form which includes hosting of such meetings pending the determination of all the matters before the Court by the community has been settled “”
The judge called him out and gave him a verbal warning that he should not parade himself as baale or act in that capacity in any form till the case is determined
