Okeyemi Leaders disown self appointed community Baale

Leaders of Okeyemi community, a town in Ijebuland located along Ibadan- Ijebu Ode Express way Ogun State has denounced one Hector Olu Ifekoya who is claiming to be the Baale of the peaceful community, warning the public that any body that does business with him on behalf of the community, is doing so at his or her own risk

According to the leaders of the community which is close to Iperin, the self acclaimed Baale was appointed the Asekute Yemilula Awujale of Okeyemi, a priesthood position whose role is to join other Asekutes in Ijebu land to appease the spirits of past kings for the peaceful co-existence in Ijebu land ; the office he has occupied since 2006 till today.

But surprisingly , in 2023, High Chief Hector Olu Ifekoya proclaimed himself Baale of Okeyemi without following due process noting that the case is currently in Court.
They accused him of surrounding himself with thugs and hoodlums trying to force everyone to recognize him as the Baale of Okeyemi which he is not.

“We want to alert the general public about the activities of a self appointed Baale who has been threatening the peace of our community.

“Recently, one of his numerous thugs confronted the wife of Mr. Abiodun Safiriyu, living at Okeyemi, telling her that Ifekoya has paid him and his group to eliminate her and the husband. On hearing this, the woman managed to escape and ran to Atan Police Station, Ijebu for safety and to make official report of the incident.

“On getting to the house of Asekute Ifekoya with Police Officers to arrest the thug, his hoodlums prevented the arrest, however, Chief Ifekoya promised to present the culprit to the Police himself. This Ifekoya did and eventually bailed the man from the Police custody .

“The case was eventually charged to court but Ifekoya failed to present the suspect in court probably to prevent him from making confessional statement of his nefarious activities in the town and negative attitude which involves land grabbing and nefarious behaviour to sons and daughters of Okeyemi community.

“The court then gave him two options of either going to jail or payment of certain fine as shown in the document of the Ogun State judiciary gazette”, they said.

They further explained that the community elders in the past have queried his rulership as the Baale since he was not nominated appropriately and thus pleading with concern authorities to yield to their plight on this issue and intervene.

The community leaders are appealing to the general public to be aware of this development so that he does not defraud them in respect to anything concerning the Okeyemi community since he’s now a convict.

Finally they advised both the Okeyemi leadership and the members of the Okeyemi community to be careful when dealing with him as whoever does any business with him on any matter concerning Okeyemi community does so at his or her own risk.
