Oritamefa Baptist Model School, Ibadan (OBMS), emerged winner of the just concluded 2021/2022 edition of the Winifred Awosika Foundation Annual School Challenge (WAFASC).
The quiz competition which took place at the Chrisland Pre Degree College, Lekki, on Tuesday, had 19 secondary schools from Lagos and Ibadan, participate in the competition.
The eight schools that qualified for the finals include, Grace High School, Corona Secondary School, Dansol High School, Whitesands School, Crane International School, Fountain Heights Secondary School, Oritamefa Baptist Model School, Total Gardens, Ibadan and Oritamefa Baptist Model School, Ring Road Ibadan.
At the end of the keenly contested competition, OBMS, Ring Road, Ibadan, was declared winner as the school’s representatives, Emmanuel Ibitunde and Ayomide Ojediran, answered all their questions with a 100% success rate.
OBMS, Total Garden, Ibadan and Whitesands School went home as first and second runners-up, respectively.
The foundation awarded the Winifred Awosika Foundation School Challenge certificates and prizes to the eight finalists.
Speaking at the event, the principal of Chrisland Pre Degree College, Dr Atinuke Agomoh, said that the event aims at promoting a culture of excellence and healthy competition among secondary schools in the country.
She also appreciated the foundation for its continued sponsorship of the event and commended the students for their stellar performances during the competition.
