Oyo Football Association Holds Draws for 2026 Federation Cup
The Oyo State Football Association has held draws for the 2026 President Federation Cup.
This year’s edition will feature eight football clubs for men while two clubs registered for the female category.
The teams include Cup holders, Shooting Stars Sports Club, and its team B as well as former winners Crown Football Club of Ogbomoso.
Others are; Oye Olohun T & T Football Club, Saki, Mustadseed Energy Int’l Sports Club, Ibadan and Ibadan United Football Club, Ibadan, The City Pride Football Club, Ibadan and Matrix Football Club, Ibadan.
For the Women category, Pacesetter Queens Football Club, Ibadan and Dragon Fury Ladies Football Club, Ibadan will lock horns for the fierce rivalry.
Speaking on the rules of the competition, the Chairman, Oyo State Football Association, who doubles as Alakinyele of Akinyele, Oba James Oluyemi Odediran, JP FIFA retired , noted that all matches would be played on knockout basis and Iseyin Township Stadium will play hosts to the preliminary rounds. He then assured of level playing ground to the participating teams.
“The match is going to be a knock-out stage, and in the event of a draw at the end of regulation time, the winner shall be decided through penalty kicks.
Explaining the rules of the game, the Vice Chairman of the state Football governing body, Comrade Ayangbile Isaac Olawale highlighted the importance of compliance, saying that the state F.A will not condone lateness of clubs to match venues.
“Lateness of club to the match venue 15 minutes after the kick-off time shall lead to walk-over and the match awarded to the other team,”he said.
The chairman reiterated the commitment of Oyo FA to ensure fair officiating throughout the competition. He urged the players and club management to strictly follow rules and regulations of the competition as appropriate sanctions await defaulters.
Ex Green Eagles and 1980 AFCON winners Felix Owolabi, MON stressed the need for both Government and Private investors to start floating football teams that will produce future stars for the nation as witnessed in his playing days an opinion that was vehemently supported by former Super Eagles forward, Chief Mutiu Adepoju(the Headmaster)
Traditionally, the defending Champions, Shooting Stars was given privilege of waiting for the semi-finalist, while Crown FC was given a close range pairing.

The oldest tournament began in 1945 as the Challenge Cup and later renamed the Federation Cup, then “The President Federation Cup”.
