It was a bittersweet day for Nigeria basketball, as the country’s representatives on the continental and global levels recorded a loss and a win in their respective games, played in Paris and Abidjan, respectively.

 

 

 

In the basketball event of the Paris Olympic games, African champions, D’Tigress went into its second game of the group B matches with high hopes on the background of its win over highly-rated Australia. However, the Nigerian girls met a more determined and stronger French ladies who triumphed 75-54, to leave the D’Tigress with a must win game against Canada on Sunday.

 

 

 

In a post match remark, Coach Of D’Tigress, Rena Wakama, said, “our team played with heart and determination, but today France executed their game plan more effectively. We’ll learn from this and come back stronger”.

 

 

Meanwhile, in a related development, same day,  Nigeria’s U-18 male basketball team, J’Tigers, devoured their Ghanaian opponents 72-47, in the ongoing FIBA U-18 qualifying tournament in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire.
