PCRC elevates former Imo chairman to national coordinator

The Police Community Relation Committee, PCRC, has elevated the immediate past chairman of the group, Imo State chapter, Mr Chima Chukwunyere, to the prestigious position of a national coordinator, after a successful leadership role spanning nearly two decades.
National Chairman of PCRC, Alhaji Mogaji Anamide Olaniyi, broke the cheering news Thursday at the Imo Command Senior Police Officers Mess, Owerri, during the swearing in ceremony of the newly elected 15-man executive of the state chapter as part of events slated to mark the 41st anniversary of the body in Nigeria.
Olaniyi who extolled the exited leadership for its exemplary performance, noted that Imo PCRC under the leadership of Mr. Chukwunyere raised the credibility of the organization to a higher bar, within the state and beyond.
He remarked that the ex-chairman’s elevation to a national position was in recognition and appreciation of his doggedness in reviving and revitalizing PCRC in Imo.
The national chairman therefore advised the newly inaugurated team to keep the flag flying through commitment and dedication to duty in order to continue strengthening the cordial working relationship between the Police and the public.
Speaking earlier, the former PCRC Chief Servant, Chima Chukwunyere thanked the group for giving him the opportunity to serve especially for the individual and collective support at different challenging times
Chukwunyere recalled that since he joined the committee in 1996 and leadership was bestowed on him in 2008, he had pragmatically and intuitively established a weekly Radio programmes to sensitize the public and smoothen relationship of the Police with the public.
According to him, his administration witnessed the creation of stronger public awareness on the dangers of cultism, drug addiction, hooliganism and sundry social vices among students and youths in the society.
Emphasizing that the Police still remains a friend of the civil public, Chukwunyere who is the MD/CEO of Domino Paramount Hotel Owerri, revealed that between 2008 till date, he had offered free hotel accommodation to Police officers on transit to the tune of N7.6million.
While performing the swearing in of the new leadership led by Evangelist (Dr) Bethram Uzodinma as chairman, Olaniyi, charged the team to eschew arrogance, power tussle and vindictiveness in the discharge of their duties.
He urged the PCRC family in the state to extend their support and cooperation to the new executive committee as they did to the outgone leadership.
Also speaking, Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Aboki Danjuma represented by the command’s PPRO, DSP Henry Okoye commended Alhaji Mogaji for enhancing relationship between the Police and the public, noting that sustained partnership, trust and collaborations were of important for the Police and the PCRC to move on the same page.
The CP described the ‘School Outreach Programme’ of Imo PCRC as apt and a step in the right direction to stem the alarming wave of juvenile delinquency in society.
In his acceptance speech, Evangelist Uzodinma pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him and the new team, with a promise to ensure a robust relationship between the Police and the public.
He announced plan to set up a farm settlement for the Police in the state, liaise with the Imo State government to establish a housing estate for the Police in addition to procuring a bus for the PCRC in the state.
“In addition to the farm settlement, housing estate, we will accord due respect to fallen heroes of the Police by floating revolving soft loans for their widows with an initial sum of N1m and a mass transport bus service will equally be provided for the Police,” he submitted.
