PDP rejects Edo Governorship election result, accuses INEC of compromise
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the results of the Edo State governorship election that declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, as the winner.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, leader of the PDP’s election campaign, criticized the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for alleged Electoral Act violations, claiming that vote tampering favoured the APC.
The PDP asserted that their candidate, Asue Ighodalo, was the clear winner based on polling unit results even as they vowed to challenge the result in Court
” I want to say it that we at the PDP rejects the results declared by INEC who allowed themselves to be used in falsifying the result in favour of APC
” The result they declared did not tally with what is in the original result sheet and nobody can explain where compromised INEC manufactured the result they announced in favour of APC.
“It’s quite unfortunate that when Nigerians thought that the electoral umpire will learn from their past mistakes and be transparent this time around, they still went ahead to compromise their integrity and trust reposed on them by Nigerians and we’ll definitely challenge this day light robbery in Court”, the PDP said
Meanwhile, the APC has denied any wrongdoing, insisting that the result reflected the will of the people of Edo State.
