Mourinho sees red, suffers first defeat with Roma
By George Aluo
Jose Mourinho and his new team, AS Roma got more than they bargained for in a strange pre seasons game against Betis as they (Roma) collected a total of five red cards and lost 5-2.
Mourinho was red carded when he moved into the pitch to protest the third goal of Real Betis which he felt was not a good goal. Television re plays showed that it was scored with the hand but with no VAR available the referee allowed the goal. One of the assistant coaches of Roma also bagged a red. The no nonsense referee also out the AS Roma trio Lorenzo Pellegrini, Gianluca Mancini and Rick Karsdorp forcing the Italian club to finish the game with eight men.
It is recalled that Mourinho took over Roma after being shown the exit door in Tottenham.
Action begins next weekend in the La Liga with Real Betis away to RCD Mallorca while the Italian Serie A starts on August 22 with Roma home to Fiorentina.
