PIB: Egbe congratulates Sylva, Bayelsa National Assembly caucus

It’s no longer news that the people of the Niger Delta are in a celebration mood  over the passage of the Petroleum industry bill by the National Assembly.

The CEO of Monimichelle sports facility construction Ltd. Ebi Egbe who hails from ogboinbiri in Southern ijaw local government area in Bayelsa state has congratulated the honorable minister of state petroleum resources His Excellency Chief Timipre Marlin Sylva and the Bayelsa national assembly caucus for their participation in the passage of the Bill that has lingered for over 12 year’s.

In his words…“The PIB  is necessary because almost all petroleum related laws including the petroleum act of 1969 had been belated for decades, with the advancement in technology, the  volatility of oil prices, climate changes can  influence the driving forces of the global economy, it has become imperative to review extant laws to bring them in line with current realities.

The PIB further  provides for the creation of a t host community development trust, the oil operators are obliged to incorporate a trust for the benefit of the Host communities and they make an annual contribution of 3% of its actual annual operating expenditure of the preceding financial year in the upstream, the midstream and downstream in respect of all petroleum operations affecting the host communities for which the applicable host community development trust fund was established.

So many factors delayed the passage of this bill like politics, sectional interests, and lack of political will but we thank god today its all in the past as the bill has been passed and we are  awaiting the signing into law by the executive arm of government.”

Egbe gave  special kudo’s to  Hon Preye Influence Oseke member representing Southern Ijaw federal constituency in the House of Rep, his kingsman  who also doubles as Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream)  for his contribution, saying Oseke is from an  oil-producing community and knows the pains of the people and he has done well in terms of quality representation, that he is proud of Oseke for his giant strides.

Egbe also stressed on the need of electing people’s choice and people’s candidate into elective offices because they are the people to make moves and bring the dividends of democracy to the common people.

He also sent his warm appreciation to the president and prayed that signing the bill into law would be done soonest so as to hit the ground running.
