Plateau State Rolls out plans for grassroots football in 2026
A new chapter for football In Plateau state will soon be opened, as the State Football Association has concluded plans to provide technical support for grassroots teams in the state.
Disclosing this, the State FA Chairman , Suleiman Yahaya Kwande said training materials comprising of match balls, jerseys and training equipments will be distributed to all 17 local government in the state, this he said will provide opportunity for youths on the Plateau to showcase their talents.
The former NFF board member charged coaches in the state to register for the forthcoming technical training course.
” We are organizing Coaching course for our coaches this year to improve their knowledge of the game.The knowledge they gain will be passed to the players and it will enhance football in the state.
“Also we are introducing new football competitions, 5-aside football ,beach soccer and female football cup to compliment the FA cup and governor’s Cup.
Kwande who is currently in Morocco is backing the Super Eagles to beat Mozambique in their round of 16 match Monday even as he advised the team not to underrate their opponent but to play with determination.
” The Super Eagles need to approach the . Mozambique game with the same determination that gave us 9 points from three group matches. I expect them to do us proud and compensate Nigerians for missing the World Cup ticket.
” We all are disappointed with the world cup loss and the opportunity is here for us now to redeem our image in international football”, he stressed.
The FA boss while commending Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang for
providing finance support to the body, assured football stakeholders that Plateau State FA is ready to partner with corporate bodies and the state government to improve the state of football in the state.
“I must have to commend His Excellency Caleb Mutfwang, the Governor of Plateau State for providing financial support to us and we must appreciate that gesture by winning titles for the state”, he concluded.
