Samuel Peter/Loveth Patra Ekufu Diamond Super Star Para Power Lifting championship ends in Lagos

By Ifeanyi Eduzor
It was a busy day for Para Power lifters as they gathered at the weightlifting Gym of the National Stadium Surulere Lagos Wednesday to partake in the second edition of the Samuel Peter/Loveth Patra Ekufu Diamond Super Star Para Power Lifting championship.
The lifters who took turn to display their talents were excited with the event which was first organised for them by onetime kickboxer and boxing champion, Loveth Patra Ekufu currently based in the United States.
Speaking on the event, organiser of the tournament and para powerlifting Coach, Jude Iduh explained that it’s part of the sponsors way of supporting and encouraging the para powerlifters to excel.
” We organised this event to celebrate the end of year for the athletes as well as show them the little hospitality which the sponsors presently based in the United States are noted for.
“As you can see, some of the athletes are World, Paralympic, Commonwealth, African and National Sports Festival champions and they all exhibited the talent that made them world beaters.
” The event was also organised to encourage them to keep training hard to win more laurels for the country and hopefully we will continue to organise it on regular basis”, noted Coach Iduh popularly known as Coach Agbor.
Iduh while expressing happiness that the first edition which was solely sponsored by Loveth Patra now saw former WBC heavyweight champion, Samuel Peter becoming part of the event promised to appeal to other Nigerian sports men and women in the Diaspora to be part of the show in subsequent editions.
At the end of the day, some cash prizes was distributed to the participants who took turn to eulogize the organisers for a job we done.
