Rivers LG Polls: Fubara Tasks Bonny Voters on Mass Turnout

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Bonny Local Government Area in Saturday’s local council election in Rivers State, Ambassador Fubara Dagogo, has charged voters in the area to turn out in large numbers and vote for their preferred candidates.

Ambassador Dagogo, in a statement issued early Thursday to round off his campaign, reminded Bonny residents that they had long prayed for an opportunity of this nature to make the council work again after suffering for years under short-sighted leadership.

The Director General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) States Assembly Forum (ASAF), noted that his victory at this weekend’s polls would mark the beginning of a journey to liberate Bonny Local Government Area and reposition it. He urged the people of the area to remain peaceful while casting their votes, even as he cautioned that those who do not have the interest of the LGA at heart may attempt to cause problems, knowing that change is imminent.

He also called on law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant, stressing that the election must not be treated as a do-or-die affair.

The ASAF DG emphasized that his campaign had been peaceful, adding that his message—which Bonny residents have embraced—remains focused on bringing the local government to the limelight through infrastructural development that would transform lives.

Ambassador Dagogo therefore urged voters to see their support for him not just as casting a ballot, but as giving a mandate to restructure the local government area and make it functional for everyone, in contrast to what it had been in the past.

He further stated that constituents deserve to be served well by their representatives and should hold them accountable whenever things are not going right.

“As we round off campaigns, I thank my people of Bonny Local Government Area for the overwhelming support. We have done this together, and Saturday’s voting day will now be the opportunity we all have to rewrite the history of our dear LGA for good, by voting en masse for me and the APC.

“I urge that we exercise this right calmly, without any form of violence. Let us not fall into the game plan of those who want to create confusion at polling stations that could lead to violence. We would not want anyone to be harmed for our sake.

“We call on the law enforcement agencies to be very vigilant in their duties, so that the enemies of our local government area will not succeed in their evil plans.

“We have long clamoured for development, a better life, and the reconstruction of Bonny into the historic and economically strong council it deserves to be. To the glory of God, Saturday is the day for history to be made by us all. Bonny will be great again,” the candidate assured.
