Sanwo-Olu, stakeholders call for action in curbing fire incidents at Lagos International Fire Conference

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has re-emphasized that safety against fire incidents remains the responsibility of residents and calls for more actions from residents in curbing constant cases of fire outbreak in the state.

Governor Sanwo-Olu spoke at the maiden Lagos International Fire Safety Conference, held in Victoria Island.

The Governor urged residents and all relevant stakeholders in the state to build resilience and be committed to being fire advocate champions to reduce the incidents across the state.

The Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Gbenga Oyerinde, said the aim of the conference with the theme, “Stakeholders Collaboration: Panacea to incessant fire disaster in Lagos” was to dialogue, share knowledge, build partnership and collaboration in line with global best practices, to enhance innovative solutions.

Director and Chief Executive Officer, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye stressed the need for public-private partnership to develop cutting-edge technology in preventing fire incidents in the State.

The event had in attendance various stakeholders including representatives of traders, religious organizations, Community Development Associations, students and international partners.
