Sports bigwigs felicitate with Ojo-Oba at his 70th birthday

On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, notable Nigerians, particularly those in the sports industry, came together to commemorate a significant milestone in the life of Dr. Bolaji Ojo-Oba, a Nigerian sports legend, as he turns 70.

Hundreds of friends, associates, locals, and well-wishers in the Nigerian football community had the chance to express their gratitude to the celebrant at the Platinum jubilee celebration, which drew the powerful from both inside and outside of Ibadan.

Chief Ojo-Oba was honored with the presence of Dr. Amos Adamu, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, the chairman of the Shooting Stars Sports Club, (3SC) Babatunde Olaniyan Akoro, Prof. Babatunde Asagba from the University of Ibadan, Demola Olajire from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and HRH Oba James Odeniran, the chairman of the Oyo FA.

One of the guests in his tribute said Dr. Ojo-Oba exhibited a commitment to excellence while serving in various capacities, especially as a member of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Committees.

Former Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC) Dr. Amos Adamu in his remark described Chief Ojo-Oba as a passionate individual who has left an indelible mark on the Nigerian sports landscape, particularly in the realm of football.

“Dr Ojo-Oba has exhibited versatility and expertise throughout his career, serving in a variety of roles, including Commissioner of Sports in Oyo State, Instructor and Commissioner for the Confederation of African Football.”

In his remark, the celebrant thanked all the dignitaries that left their busy schedules from far and near to honour him on the occasion of his 70th birthday while sharing some of his remarkable experiences using them as a point of contact to appreciate the Lord’s protection over his life.

Dr. Ojo-Oba’s illustrious career spans several decades, during which he has demonstrated exceptional leadership, versatility, and expertise.
His tenure as Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) from January 15, 2007 to July 26, 2010 is instrumental in shaping the country’s football scene.
