NNL Super 8 winners to go home with prize money -Aluo
Chairman of Nigeria National League (NNL), Mr. George Aluo has assured that winners of this year’s Super 8 will go home with prize money.
Aluo made this disclosure while featuring in a question and answer session popularly known as Super Interview on WhatsApp platform, Sports World on Monday.
The journalist turned sports administrator noted that the end has come to the era where the Super 8 is seen as a charity tournament in the most important league in the country.
He said: “Unlike last season where the winners of Super 8 went home with nothing, this year the winners will definitely go home with prize money”.
” I also want to assure you that apart from the winners, all the participating teams will get some money.
The Imo State born veteran journalist cum administrator, while calling on investors to partner with the league , opined that the league body has achieved something unprecedented in the area of cash reward to outstanding clubs.
He affirmed that a football manufacturing company named Proster donated 400 balls, which the league body distributed to all the clubs in NNL, with each team getting 10 balls.
“In the area of sponsorship, we have achieved a lot in that direction, because a company by name, Proster donated, 400 balls, to us which we distributed to all the clubs in NNL.
” The balls are the official balls which we’re using in all our matches which is a step in the right direction and the clubs have given kudos to the balls and the League board
Aluo noted that, the league is working assiduously for all clubs that will be participating in super 8 to be given some money while the winners will receive prize money, assuring that the league will not disappoint in this direction.
” like I said during last Season’s Super 8, all the participating teams would get money for participating in this year’s edition while the winners will receive prize money. The league is working it out and we’re not going to disappoint.
The NNL boss affirmed that this year will be different as the league body has entered into a deal with an insurance company who have already committed the sum of N5 million to the Super 8; saying that the league body is hopeful of getting more sponsors to be part of the Super 8.
” Yo will remember that last year in Asaba during the super 8, none of the clubs got anything to participate, Heartland who eventually won it only went home with a trophy, but this year is going to be different.
” Already we have an insurance company that has committed the sum of N5 million towards that direction and we’re hoping that other sponsors will come in before the tournament “, he concluded.
