U-H Abia, Soof, Funad, and Airforce Seal Spots in National Division One Handball League Finals

The finalists of the 2025 National Division One Handball League have emerged after an intense semi-final day in Umuahia, Abia State, on Thursday.
In the men’s category, home side U-H Abia produced a dramatic finish to edge past a resilient Suleja Shooters 30-29 in a thrilling contest.
Both teams traded goals from the onset, with Suleja Shooters holding firm in the first half, but U-H Abia’s late push in the closing minutes delighted their home fans and secured a place in the championship match.
They will now face Airforce, who battled from behind to defeat Bayelsa 21-18. Bayelsa led 9-8 at halftime, but Airforce’s solid defense and efficient second-half attack turned the tide in their favour.
The women’s semi-finals saw Soof Handball Club continue their dominant run, overpowering Edo Dynamos 36-16 in a one-sided encounter. Soof were in control from start to finish, racing to an 18-11 halftime lead before completely shutting out their opponents in the second half.
Joining them in the final will be Funad Academy, who defeated Girl Child Academy 30-20.
