Uche returns at Getafe…

The notable Uche we knew back then at Spanish side Getafe was former Super Eagles’ striker Ikechukwu Uche but there’s a brand new Uche song at the Madrid Municipality side, and it’s Chrisantus Uche.
The older Uche with hung boots needed no second introduction to announce to Spain, his homeland and the world, the brilliant stuff he was made of, he left Spain with his head firmly fixed on his shoulders.
He had invaded Spain unannounced fresh from the fringes of the defunct Iwuanyanwu Nationale (now Heartland) and from a tight rope from the lower rungs, he took no prisoners when he had a chance to sleaze.
His Odyssey took him through Getafe who refused to take their eyes off him after he grabbed the Segunda (second division) Pichichi (top scorer’s award) with Recreativo de Huelva and the rest of his Spanish expedition, was history.
Enter Chrisantus, same route, same circumstances, but with a quicker acceleration, just two years of leaving the difficult shores of homeland, he landed at Getafe to prove he was worth the bargain buy.
Great IK Uche’s steps following, as it were, but it remains to be seen if he would make the impact the older Uche made in his career that had Spain in stitches and General Franco’s brutal Army on his trail.
Nice step still, Chrisantus grabbed his chance from the blast of the whistle for the current La Liga season opener, opening his account in his side’s hard earned 1-1 draw at Atletico Bilbao and lasting the full length.
Great signs of better things to come but matching them with wonders just like we were told biblically, is what football watchers do not know yet.
He’s got the physique and build for one who’s got a lot to offer but then he’s got to prove it and on this top stage, he’s just got to get down to work.
A midfielder he’s, Chrisantus got lots to learn, improve and go on to become a great sought after commodity if he chooses to grab the opportunity with both feet.
He’s come a long way and would not toy with this great opportunity, La Liga’s chances are still limited to African players and Chrisantus coming this far, will definitely raise the bar for himself.
Stockily built like a tank, with a presence looking to strike fear into opposite rivals, the world is in his feet to sit pretty behind his own wheels to advance his game.
He’s only 21, over ripe age to prove anything, the big stage in Spain is his to put himself in the showroom and go on to help himself, and perhaps, controlling the feelings of Barcelona and Real Madrid for a switch. Who knows?
Playing in Spain alone is a huge potential passage to Super Eagles but he’s got to match this expectation with the required performances to berth at the Eagles’ quays.
