Union (UDU) in Lagos holds send forth for Opara

It was a wonderful Father’s Day on Sunday for members of Umuohiagu Development Union (UDU) in Lagos as they held a send forth party for Elder Athan Njoku.

Njoku who is retiring to his Umuohiagu ancestral home was presented with a plaque for his meritorious service to the Union and equally splashed with his benefits from the body which is the umbrella body of Umuohiagu sons and daughters in Lagos. Umuohiagu is an autonomous community (Airport Town) in Ngor Okpala local government area of Imo state.

Speaking at the event which took place at Gracewell College, Coker, the President of UDU Lagos, Agu Chris Ekeocha (Onwa) charged Opara to be a good ambassador of the body when he gets home. He prayed for good health declaring that the Good Lord who saw him through his over four decades of active life in Lagos will make him enjoy his retirement at home.

“Our joy is that Umuohiagu is a peaceful community. We are confident Elder Opara by the special grace of God will enjoy his retirement in good health,” Ekeocha stated.

He urged other sons and daughters of Umuohiagu to identify with the Union pointing out that doing so has numerous benefits.

He stressed that UDU is happy that two sons of Umuohiagu Dr Mathew Nwogu and Prince Obinna Egu have been elected lawmakers at the Federal and state levels.

“We urge them to go out there and give us quality representation. We are proud of Nwogu and Egu,” Ekeocha declared.
