UNIZIK: Assaulted Lecturer debunks claims of apology to him
The UNIZIK lecturer,Dr Chukwudi Okoye who was allegedly assaulted by a student,has debunked claims that he was visited after the incident.
The lecturer was allegedly fought by a student, Goddy Mbakwe Precious, on the school premises, leading to her expulsion.
Reacting to viral news that the lady may have apologised to him, the lecturer said he was neither apologised to nor visited. According to the news update by UNIZIK FM on Facebook, Dr Okoye, in a phone call, said that neither the girl nor her family visited him or apologised to him.
He added that media reports claiming that the girl visited him alongside her family were false.
The report partly read:
“The varsity don made it clear through a phone interview that at no point in time did the female student nor her parents nor anyone called or visit him under whatever guise, saying that media reports claiming that the lady has come with her mother to apologise to him were false and ill motivated.”
Precious’ mum corroborated the report by telling UNIZIK FM that she never visited the lecturer.
It said: “Corroborating Dr Okoye’s claim, the family quoted by the on;ine newspaper to have visited the lecturer denied ever making such gestures. Speaking to UNIZIK FM, the mother of the student said her family never embarked on such journey and has no plan for such.”
Meanwhile, a Nigerian woman, Ebere Jane Agbi, has wondered why people are rejoicing over UNIZIK’s expulsion of the female student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, who had a physical altercation with a lecturer, Dr. Chukwudi Okoye.
Ebere said the expelled student wasted her time, energy, resources and dreams by virtue of the expulsion decision and called on people to show her empathy.
While noting that she was not on the side of the lady, she said she was sympathising with her as a mother and a human.
She added that the incident will not be forgotten by Precious’ family in a hurry even though it might no longer trend online.
Ebere called on Precious’ family and loved ones to show her support so she does not slide into depression. She offered a piece of advice to the expelled student. “…To Precious Mbakwe, I pray that this becomes a learning curve and turning point in your life.
“Certainly, there’s going to be fresh beginnings but I pray that you don’t despair. You have the fighting spirit,use it to advance yourself not assault others.
“Mourn the death of one dream, grieve over the loss of things you once hold so dear,weep over the tongue lashing from family and friends,then pick up your life and move on.
“When one door closes by error, accident or design, another one will definitely open. “Look for the other door and continue with the pursuit of your dreams.
“To the young, I say, accept the training of your parents and also learn from the things happening around you. “Please keep learning and getting better as a person.”
