Alhaji Isa memorial tennis championship serves off August 28

The 4th edition of the annual Alhaji Adewale Isa memorial tennis championship will serve off from August, 28- September 2, 2023 at the tennis court of the National Stadium Surulere Lagos.
The tournament tagged “Impacting Lives through Tennis and Education’ which is expected to attract more than 200 players from about 15 states of the Federation and a club in Oshogbo, the Osun State Capital according to Alhaja Olayinka Adigun, daughter of the late former tennis player and coach is open to boys and girls within the age bracket of 12, 14 and 16 years.
The tennis enthusiast who was accompanied by one of her siblings, Nurudeen Isa at a press conference announcing date for the competition said prizes ranging from tennis rackets, shoes, bags and several other item will be won, while expressing optimism of a very competitive championships.
She explained that the aim of the competition is for the grassroots development of the game which their father championed during his life time as well as to discover burden talents and future tennis greats for the country.
“As of last week we have received 108 entries from 15 states of the Federation and a club from Osogbo and more are expected to register before the championship serves off on Monday, August 28. We expect about 200 kids to be part of this year’s tournament and all logistics have been put in place to ensure a successful event
“Last year was great but this year we expect it to be, greater, bigger and better championship.
“It was the dream of our late dad to discover and build tennis talents and that is what this championships is all about to; keep his legacy on with the Adewale Isa Foundation,” she stressed
The championship which is being organised in collaboration with the Nigeria Tennis Federation will give kids opportunity to compete favourably among themselves.
