Yomaraz outshines BTL at Dr. D.K. Olukoya cup final

There was plenty of football action at the Campus Mini Stadium, Lagos Island Tuesday as Yomaraz Football Club defeated Built on Trust and love (BTL) Academy 4-1 in the finals of this year’s Dr. D.K Olukoya football cup competition.
It was indeed a sweet revenge for Yomaraz that lost the finals to same BTL in last year’s edition.Hero of the day was Yomaraz’s Striker Alao Damola who scored two goals in the highly entertaining match watched by several fans including Godwin Enakhena, Sporting Director of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry.
There were two other splendid goals by Mustapha Amodu and Liabi Alao; as the Most Valuable Player Afolabi Akeen, substitute Victor Ogar and co pilled pressure on (BTL) that got her consolatory goal after missing a penalty by Charles Ojoh.
After being presented with a golden trophy and N150,000 (One hundred and fifty thousand naira) prize money, Head Coach of Yomaraz, Akeem Olokodano said hard-work and superior tactics gave his side victory.
On his part, Sporting Director of BTL Academy, Khalifa Lawal applauded the standard of the tournament while admitting that the better side won the title. His team finished with a silver medal and N100,000 (One hundred thousand Naira)
Meanwhile highly elated chairperson of the Lagos State Football and Other Sports Supporters Club, organisers of the tournament, Alhaja Shade Gbajumo said she cannot thank Dr. Olukoya enough over the successes recorded at the tournament at both the Isheri Registration Centre and Campus Mini Stadium
“I can’t thank the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry General Overseer, Dr. D.K. Olukoya enough for his fatherly support for youths. He has actually touched the lives of our young ones through this Ibile Football championship and it’s our hope that quality players unveiled would go on to represent Nigeria at the International level as well as secure big clubs globally.
“Lagos State Football and Other Sports Supporter Club is proud to be the first Supporters Club to organise a football tournament in this country and we shall sustain it”, summarized the light skinned Gbajumo who thanked all teams that participated in the grassroot football carnival for playing to the rules of the game throughout the duration of them competition.
