We are determined to return to premiership, Heartland FC management assures IMSG

With barely 4 matches to go, 3 home, 1 away before the round of 8 teams that will slog it out for 4 of the teams to qualify and be promoted to play the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premiership League, NPL and being first on the league table of the ongoing Nigeria National League, NNL with 12 points plus 3 goals, the management of Heartland Football Club, Owerri led by Mr. Promise Nwachukwu has expressed optimism to Imo State Government, IMSG on the club’s determination to return back to the nation’s apex league next football season.

Nwachukwu who’s the General Manager of the State darling football club expressed the determination during a recent courtesy call cum presentation of distinguished trophies, laurels and awards as recently won by Imo sports men and women during national and international sporting fiestas to Governor Hope Uzodimma, in appreciation of his administration’s efforts, towards the growth, advancement, development and transformation of sports in the Eastern Heartland State.

The sports ambassadors were led by Hon. Emeka Okoronkwo, the State Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Developments, however, they were ably and apologetically received by His Excellency, Prof. Placid Njoku, the Deputy Governor of the State at the Government House Multi Purpose Hall, attributing Governor Hope Uzodimma’ s last minute absence to exigencies of duty and called for understanding.

According to the General Manager, “we at Heartland FC are proud and privileged to be associated with a purpose driven leader, an accomplished lawmaker , a pragmatic leader, a serial winner, the captain, the skipper and legend of the Imo Project, our amiable Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma.

“Sir we are humbled by your fatherly love and magnanimity towards our darling Club, Heartland FC of Owerri .Despite our short comings, you have shown faith ,character and capacity in a bid to uplift the fortunes of our legendary Club. We lack words to express our gratitude and appreciation ” he assured.

The Football Administrator also pointed out that “the current crop of Heartland players are highly disciplined and dedicated to the cause of the club, in a manner that has not been witnessed before In the history of the Club.

“We are eternally grateful for the gift of the Honourable Commissioner for Sports, Chief Emeka Okoronkwo, whose administrative dexterity has propelled Heartland in the right direction. Suffice it to say that, Hon Emeka Okoronkwo is a round peg in a round hole , fit and proper for the task ahead.

“His Sacrifices to the team is an eloquent testimony of his passion and drive for Success” Nwachukwu pointed out.

The General Manager further noted that the Chairman House Committee on Sports and the Deputy Speaker Rt Hon. Chyna Amara Iwuanyanwu performed his oversight functions with seamless synergy in the quest to rejig and recalibrate the Club from the ruins of despondency to the roar of gladiators.

Nwachukwu also said that, “Your Excellency Sir ,Heartland FC of Owerri is proud to inform you that the club is leading her group at the moment in the NNL.The team is unbeaten in Six Matches with 3 victories and three draws with a Superior goal difference of +3.
In the Federation Cup, Heartland has also qualified for the round of 32 after dispatching our opponents with two unreplied goals in Abuja last week.

” Heartland’s feeder team is currently in Awka for a 14 days competition in their quest to get promoted from the third division to the second division.Your Excellency,it has became imperative and expedient that Heartland FC leaves the second division to the elite division to avoid having two teams in the 2nd division.
To whom much is given, much is expected” he observed.

Nwachukwu passionately appealed for the provision of buses to aid their mobility, stressing that the club is in dare need of at least two coastal buses to assist them in conveying the team to its domestic matches.

He reassured of the willingness of the club to make a huge come back to the premiership, courtesy of the motivation and the Midas touch of the Governor and based on his strategic appointments and benevolence to the team.

The General Manager reiterated the team’s determination to reward the Governor, her fans, supporters and other critical stakeholders with Sterling performances that will return it to its pride of place in the Nigerian football history.
