West African Deaf Football Championship : Deaf Eagles To Face Niger in Semi- Finals

The Deaf Super Eagles of Nigeria will on Wednesday 27 August 2025 take on Niger Republic in the first semi-final game of the on-going 13th West African Deaf Football tournament holding at the Moshood Abiola National stadium Abuja alongside the 3rd West African Deaf Athletics championship.

As defending champions having won the trophy 5 times in the past with their last victory being in 2024, ,the Deaf Super Eagles topped group A with 6 points from two matches by spanking Cote D’Ivoire 3-0 in the games opener and another 3-2 victory against Gambia in their second game to remain unbeaten in the group stage while Gambia finished as group A runners up.

Tha match comes up at 2 pm while the second semi-final game involving Group B table toppers, Liberia and group A runners up, Gambia holds at 4 pm immediately after the first match.

A win against Niger Republic on Wednesday, will make it Nigeria’s 11th appearance in the final as they chase their 6th title.
Mobility player Emeka Ikechukwu who swaps from 7 to 11 is Nigeria’s tormentor in- chief with 3 goals in his kitty, has assured that the team will overcome their opponents.

Meanwhile Deaf Eagles Head Coach, Kamiludeen Banjo is optimistic of an outright victory against Niger Republic.

In a chat with the media, Coach Banjo said the Niger team cannot stop his men from getting to the Saturday’s final. According to him, though they are good but the Eagles are better.

“We’re going all out for victory. I have the men that will do the job. Niger cannot stop us. We are going for our 6th title and Niger cannot stop our victory run.
