YSFON shifts commencement of M.K.O Abiola cup by one week

National headquarters of Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) has announced a one week shift in the commencement of the much anticipated national U-18 boys football competition tagged “M.K.O Abiola Cup”.
The national football tournament that was instituted to immortalize the late business Mogul and Pillar of sport in Africa, Bashorun M.K.O Abiola earlier scheduled for Saturday 19th to 26th August has been postponed to a new date of 25th August – 2nd September, 2023.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the national body of the organization, and signed by its National Secretary, Patrick Okpavuerhe.
Speaking in the same vein, the Chairman, YSFON Ogun State Chapter, Alhaji Waheed Lawal has announced that all the zonal teams are expected to arrive Ijebu-Ode on Friday 25th August, 2023 as all information about the tournament remains unchanged.
Alhaji Lawal maintained that all the matches in the competition will be played at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode within the new set dates while only the final would be held at the M.K.O Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.
He however appealed to all expected participants to bear with the organizers on any inconveniences the postponement might have caused; saying the shift was occasioned by some logistics reasons that were aimed towards ensuring a memorable tournament.
