Monimichelle: Let’s Build Viable And Sustainable Football Pitches For The Nation

By Akin Bolarinwa

The CEO of Monimichelle pitch construction company, Ebi Egbe popularly known as Monimichelle, has emphasized the need for immediate upgrading of sporting facilities within the country as the panacea for growth of the game.

He stated that, only few pitches are television friendly in Nigeria, especially the Hybrid natural pitches while many may not meet the required standard.

“A lot of television sponsorship and rights will come to play if we have good pitches that are Tv freindly and could also translate to more money for the development of the game”.

According to him, while many Nigerians, especially youths, crave for international football actions due to the quality of play and scintillating displays, the same cannot be said of the fans and enthusiasm attracted by the domestic league.

“I am calling on respective states government to look at the professional jobs we have done for the past 25 years and tap into the opportunity we are providing to build, develop and maintain pitches at affordable contracts.

Egbe admitted that football, if properly organised can become a rallying point for national unity and cohesion for the nation.

“If we develop our pitches, the potentials are truly enormous but the government needs to enhance enabling environment for football to grow faster” Egbe stated.
