Imo insecurity: Rep member-elect, Nwogu condemns killing of five policemen, couple in Ngor Okpala, commiserates with families

The Aboh-Mbaise/ Ngor Okpala House of Representatives member-Elect, Dr. Matthew Nwogu, has condemned the brutal killing of five policemen and a couple at Okpala junction in Ngor Okpala Local Government area of Imo State last Friday.

He also condemned other killings of innocent lives and robbery attacks in the constituency.

Nwogu who made the condemnation in a statement signed by the Director of Communications, Eziaha ka Ego 2023 Campaign Organization, described the incident as sad and senseless.

He sympathized with the families of the deceased and condoled with them, calling on the people of Aboh-Mbaise and Ngor Okpala to remain calm and law-abiding amidst their sorrows and pains. He also sympathized with the Imo State Police command on the ugly incident.

He called on security agencies to conduct surveillance to identify the perpetrators behind the killings and nip it in the bud for protection of lives to be restored in the constituency.

Nwogu assured the affected communities and others affected by the killings of his resolve to work with relevant security agencies and communities in the federal constituency to stop the senseless killings when he is sworn in as the House of Representatives member.

He further expressed sadness over the killings and called on Aboh-Mbaise and Ngor Okpala leaders to be more proactive to quell the security challenges in the constituency.

He urged members of the community and Imo State Police command to stay close to the bereaved families in these trying times, prayed God to rest the souls of the deceased and restore peace in the communities in the interest of all.

Nwogu however appealed to the families affected to remain calm and not take the law into their hands on the matter, assuring the communities that the government will live up to her responsibilities and get justice for the late couple.

He also prayed for the repose of the late couples souls, asking God to grant their immediate family and friends the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
