Int’l Friendly: Super Eagles beat 10- man Black Stars in Marrakech

…To meet Mali on Tuesday as Ghana takes on Uganda

The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Friday defeated Black Stars of Ghana 2-1 in an international friendly match in Marrakech, Morocco.

The two West African neighbours faced each other at the Grande de Stade Marrakech in Morocco.

Both teams played cautiously in the early minutes of the game with Nigeria scoring the first goal after more than 30 minutes of play through a penalty kick.
Striker Cyriel Dessers stepped up and scored after sending Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi the wrong way.

That goal separated the two teams at the break before things got worse for the Black Stars in the 56th minute.

Defender Jerome Opoku was shown the red card as Ghana was forced to finish the game with 10 men.

Late in the game, a strike by Ademola Lookman in the 83rd minute made it 2-0 for Nigeria.

A penalty kick converted by Jordan Ayew in injury time served as a consolation goal for the Black Stars as they settled for a 2-1 defeat at the close of action.

Up next for the Black Stars of Ghana with a returnee manager Atto Addo, is a tricky tie against the Cranes of Uganda on Tuesday, March 26 while Nigeria meet the Eagles of Mali the same day.
