2025 World Championships: Tobi Amusan wins silver in women 100m hurdles

Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan has won silver in the women’s 100m hurdles at the ongoing Tokyo 2025 World Championships, marking her first podium finish since her historic world title in 2022.

The world record holder clocked 12.28s to finish second behind Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji, who won gold in a time of 12.24s while Grace Stark of the United States claimed bronze in 12.34s,

Amusan had shown strong form throughout the competition, winning her opening heat in 12.53s before storming to a 12.36s (-0.2) victory in the semi-finals.

In the final, she battled top athletes that included the duo of Grace Stark and Masai Russell of the United States, Danielle Williams of Jamaica, Ditaji Kambundji of Switzerland, Netherland’s Nadine Visser, Devynne Charlton of (Bahamas and Polish, Pia Skrzyszowska

The silver medal is Tobi Amusan’s first World Championships podium finish since 2022, marking a major comeback after a challenging spell that saw her miss out on a medal in Budapest 2023. It is also Nigeria’s first medal in three years at the World Championships.
