2nd PANASA President’s Cup ‘Triumvirate Showdown’ Registration Deadline Looms As Countdown Begins

More teams have been unveiled as the countdown to the August 2025 Pan African Scrabble Association (PANASA) President’s Cup tagged ‘Triumvirate Showdown’ begins.

The President’s Cup which is a celebration of scrabble excellence in creating prestigious competition among players in an air of conviviality, will see the convergence of mind gamers this time, in a team formation.

The “Triumvirate Showdown” will see a team of three players each from the same country or different nationalities compete in six groups of six teams in a round robin format over 30 games in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi.

After the first set of 15 games, the next format will see the teams rearranged into six Groups of six (A-F) according to each team’s placement at the end of the first part of the tournament.

According to PANASA the continent’s governing body, the cut-off pool for players are categorised according to three different bands of ratings in Pool A (1816-2217), B (1385-1815) and C (500-1384) while a team is limited to a maximum of two players from Pool A for fair competition.

Thr top team winner in Group A will earn a cash prize of 6,000 dollars and flight tickets to the 2025 World English Scrabble Players Association Championship (WESPAC) in Ghana while prizes will also be shared across the other groups.

Teams already signed up and unveiled for the 4-day showdown in the East African country includes: Angry Birds, Hammer, D. Warriors, Thirsty Camels, Gold Dust, Spotlight, Phantasmagoric, Team Etymos, The Trios, Wonderkinds, Scorpions, Conditioners, Mavericks and Pioneer.

Others are: Ace, Crackajacks, LSC Drones, Lexiworld, Blitzkrieg, Wazito, Shuriken and Skywalkers. Brainy Bunch, Sphesihle, Nyar Milaje and Triple Charm.

The tournament which has been gaining momentum across the continent and the world is designed to promote diversity and will witness the convergence of one of the largest number of scrabble players and enthusiasts at the Trademark Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya from August 14 to 17 this year.

Meanwhile, the registration portal according to the LOC will remain opened till Friday, July 25.

Interested players have been advised form a team and seize the opportunity of witnessing the thrills of ‘Triumvirate Showdown’ where social activities will also be available as part of the 4-day tournament.

The ‘Triumvirate Showdown’ will be held alongside the 2nd African Youth Scrabble Championship in the Brighton International School Nairobi.
