United States of America based Grand Patron of Ex Rangers International of Enugu, Ezeomeogo Benson Ejindu (MVP) has congratulated the team for winning the NPFL title a record eight times just as he commended the General Manager of the club, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku for breaking the eight year jinx in his first year in office both as a player and administrator.
The Flying Antelopes won the coveted trophy on Sunday with a game to spare after they defeated visiting Bendel Insurance 2-0 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu popularly known as the Cathedral.
The Coal City boys topped the league table with 67 points from 37 matches while their closest rival, Remo Stars have 62 points from same number of games and will now represent the country in next year’s CAF Champions League competition.
Speaking from his base in the United States, Ejindu noted that the victory was well deserved considering the form of the team during the campaign noting that winning the title after eight years calls for celebration.
“I’m very excited that Rangers won the 2023/2024 League title with a game to spare. Emerging Nigerian champion after eight years since they last won it in 2016, is a thing of joy not only to me but to millions of supporters of the club and this calls for celebration.
“It’s equally important I commend the General Manager of the club, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku for what he has achieved with the club in just one year of being in charge both as a player and administrator.
“His role in the team especially as a player helped in motivating the players to put in their best for the club which led to their winning the league even with one more game to go”, he stressed.
Ejindu however urged the team not to relent in their efforts but to do more and ensure they do well in next year’s CAF Champions League.
” My advise to the team is that now that they have won the domestic title, they should redouble their efforts and ensure they do the country proud at next year’s CAF Champions League which has eluded the team”, he concluded.
