The 2021/2022 AFCCL season reached the halfway mark following the completion of 10 rounds of games at the weekend with Ecas FC of Agboju topping the table
Ecas finished their first round campaign of the AFCCL with an emphatic 2-0 victory over visiting Nissi FC. The win did not come on a platter of gold as Ecas players were made to fight tooth and nail before Joseph Ntat and Ikechukwu Nweke’s goals condemned the visitors to painful defeat.
During the first 10 ties of the season, Ecas led coach Alozie Ngadi and his warriors were able to lead the pack with 22 points. Behind them are Kotech FA and Samjason FC in the second and third position with 20 and 19 points respectively. The bottom three clubs are Nissi FC, Leyenda FC and Newton G. There will be a two week break where the transfer window will be open.
While speaking with Sporting Life, the Ecas gaffer disclosed that the support from his club President and fans have been his ward’s strength so far.
“We are thankful to God and very excited,” Ngadi said.
“Our club President in the person of Sesi Toku has been awesome from day one, the players too deserve some praises for giving their all as well as the fans. I will also like to say a big thank you to the AFCCL organizers for their brilliant job.”
In spite of topping the 2021/2022 AFCCL season, Ngadi believes that the second round would be tougher.
“The first round of the matches were tough, but we expect a tougher competition in the second round,” he predicted. This season has seen tweak to the AFCCL with the introduction of live stream games via mobile application. A total of 110 games have been played so far. Of the 110 games, 120 goals were scored with Kotech FA goal sensation Emma Ogwuche leading the top scorers chart with six goals. The 2021/2022 AFCCL second stanza is scheduled to resume on November 23.
