Organizers unveil date for Owerri Basketball Classic
Plans for the second edition of the highly anticipated Owerri Basketball Classic has been made known by the organizers.
This year’s event will take place during the Easter period and will host teams across the South-East and South-South geopolitical zones of the country.
The inaugural edition sponsored by the chairman Imo State Basketball Association, Mr Kelechi Anosike attracted 14 teams across the two geopolitical zones that was sponsored by eminent dignitaries in and outside the country such as Iyke Diogu, Kelechi Anuna etc.
The most decorated basketball player in the country, Julius Nwosu registred a team in the previous edition and was formally recognized.
The media coordinator of the the competition Mr Kennedy Onwunali said the organizers are calling on well-meaning individuals to come forward to sponsor this year’s edition having recorded tremendous success previously, such as sponsorship by Golden Guinea, MVP sponsorship by Iyke Diogu, the presences of the Imo State Commissioner for Sports and FIBA certified referees.
