National Sports Festival: Sirawo assures Edo of support

President of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Honor Sirawo has assured that sports journalists in the country would play their role well in making the Edo 2020 National Sports Festival a huge success.
Sirawo who was in Benin during the just concluded National Council of Sports meeting told The Nigerian Xpress Sports that the role of the media ahead of the festival is crucial, even as he commended Edo state government for starting preparations in good time.
“SWAN would play its role well and partner the host as well as the federal ministry of sports to ensure Edo takes the sports festival to a higher level. The sports festival is a media event and we would give it the massive publicity it deserves. The good thing is that Edo is leaving no stone unturned in her quest to host and host well,” Sirawo said.
The SWAN boss was however quick in charging the host to ensure that they carry his body along as they prepare for the festival insisting that sidelining SWAN would be counter productive.
“As I said earlier, the festival is a media event and it is only when we are involved and treated as a major stakeholder that we can effectively drive the event and mobilize Nigerians to support the show which is the country’s own Olympics.”
