13 teams for Chicago football championship

A total of 13 teams will participate in the maiden edition of Chicago Football championship tagged “Youths Have a Voice, Your Votes Count” slated to kick off on Monday, October ,3, 2022 in Lagos.
Sponsored by Hon. Seyi Olowu (Chicago of Shomolu), the tournament which will be played on knockout basis will hold at the Shepherdvile play ground Obanikoro, Lagos.
In a well attended press conference to herald the competition, Hon Olowu who is the People’s Democratic Party flag bearer for Shomolu Federal Constituency, Lagos State in next year’s general election explained that the championship is put together to encourage healthy rivalry among youths in Shomolu and make them stay out of crime and become useful citizens of the country.
“I’m organising this competition in order to keep youths of Shomolu, Bariga, Fadeyi, Obanikoro, Anthony, Onipanu and other communities busy, stay out of crime and exhibit their talents.
” You know that youths of Shomolu are known for crime, fighting and all sorts of social vices and this competition is my little way of making them useful citizens and stay out of crime and I intend to make it an annual event”, he said.
He announced that there will be adequate security at the match venue even as he posited that winners of the competition will go home with N750,000 while the first and second runners up will be N125,000 and N75,000 richer.
Hon. Olowu while announcing that there will be adequate security and medical personnel at the match venue also explained that there will be monetary rewards for those who accurately predicted the outcome of any match at least one hour before the commencement of each game; including award for the best behaved team and a novelty female match even as he appealed to all the participating teams to play to the rules of the game and avoid any act capable of disrupting the championship.
Meanwhile, draws for the tournament indicates that Young Talents Fc will meet Toriola Fc with Unique Fc
trading tackles with Sly Fc just as HOP Fc will play against Mourning Stars.
In the other fixtures, Orio Fc will face The Legends with Akoka Fc testing the might of Evergreen Fc while Cyon will play All Star Fc.
