Labour Party’s Presidential candidate, Peter Obi is planning big for Nigerian sports.

Obi who spoke at the flag off of the party’s presidential campaign in Lafia, Nasarawa State over the weekend bemoaned Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

He insisted that given the country’s population and talent base not qualifying for the World Cup is not acceptable.

He said his government would properly fund sports and change the present narrative.

In his words… “I assure you a country like Nigeria, a country of 200 million people, we did not qualify for World Cup. With myself and Datti Yusuf in charge, we will put money in sports… the youths will have vote and we will go to World Cup always…we will put money in ICT…how can they play World Cup without Nigeria.”

Obi it would be noted made the welfare of ex Rangers players a priority when he was governor of Anambra State.

He is the only presidential candidate that has spoken about his plans for sports in his manifesto.
