Basketball : Osogbo to host NBBF Total Energies Division 2 League play-off

The city of Osogbo in Osun State has been selected to host South/ West Nigeria Basketball Federation Total Energies Division 2 League play-off which dunks off on Friday, 25th November, 2022.
12 clubs from the six States of the South /West Zone of the Federation; namely, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Osun and Ekiti are expected to compete for the two available places in the Atlantic Conference finals. Each of the State will be represented by two clubs in Osogbo.
The South /West Representative on the board of the NBBF Olumide Oyedeji told newstap.com that the teams will be divided into two groups of six teams each, the top two in each group at the end of the round robbing outing will advance to the semi -final.
The finalists will represent the South/ West in the Atlantic Conference finals.
Participating teams are due in Osun State capital on Thursday, November, 24 for the technical meeting before the start of the play-off.
The Vice Chairman of Oyo State Basketball Association (OSBA) and the founder of Hoop Dreams Nigeria, Barrister Damola Awosika stated that they are ready for the big battle in Osogbo and the two flag bearers from Oyo State are eyeing the tickets to the Conference finals.
Already, the South /East and the South/ South Play-off have been concluded. Federal Polytechnic Nekede and Team Anambra are coming to the Conference from the South /East. Similarly the North /East, North/ West and North /Central play offs have been decided too.
Numan Super Flames and Adamawa Lions are the touch bearers from the North/ East, Solid Heats of Nasarawa and Village Buzzers of Abuja are the representatives from the North/ Central play-off.
Coach Yakubu Usman, who coordinated the North /East Play-off told our correspondent that this year’s event which took place in Yola is the most competitive since 2017.
The widely travelled player now coach explained that Numan Super Flames and Adamawa Lions are loaded with exciting young talents that will surely light up the Savannah Conference finals and go ahead to make a name for themselves in the slamming and dunking game in the near future.
The Chairman of the NBBF Total Energies Division 2 League Committee, Alhaji Honourable Abba Abdulquadir Kaka says Abuja is expected to host the Savannah Conference finals while Lagos will host the Atlantic Conference finals.
