Comedian cum Politician, Akinsete To Build Mini Football Pitch In Constituency

As part of his efforts to shore up human capital and develop sports at
the grassroots, a comedian turned politician, Mr. Olakunle Akinsete,
is set to donate a mini football pitch to youths in his constituency.

Akinsete who is the Social Democratic Party candidate gunning for the
Ibadan Southwest II State constituency seat at the Oyo State House of
Assembly disclosed this while speaking during a 3-Aside Football
Competition organized in his honour during the festive season.

While he hinted that the construction of the pitch would be duly
funded from his personal purse, he disclosed that the long-term
advantage of the facility is that it will be made public.

“I’m glad and will like to thank the organizers of this 3-aside
competition held in my honor at Agbokojo/Labaowo area of ward 7 Ibadan
South West Local Government of Oyo state. But I wonder why we cannot
boast of owning a facility that could host this kind of mini football
event and being made available for the public and also serve as a
training pitch for the professional footballers within the
constituency”, he said.

Adding, “Sports is a bridge to foster unity, relationship and communal
development and as such installing facilities like this will be a top
agenda for me. The desire is to move beyond paltry empowerment. We
should be talking of infrastructure and Human capital development”.
