Nigeria’s sports media legend, Michel ‘The Grand Master’ Obi has tasked the sporting press to do more for the nation’s domestic league.

Obi who spoke yesterday in Lagos also lauded the strategic partnership between GTI and the Gbenga Elegbeleye led Interim League Management Committee (IMC).

Obi noted that for the league to be taken to the next level the sporting press need to put it in the front burner insisting that “it is our own and we must promote it.”

Obi pointed out that the Nigerian league can in the next couple of years become as competitive as any other in the world if every stakeholder play its role well.

“GTI must be commended for the role it is playing and we are already seeing the dividend of the strategic partnership with the IMC. For us in the media we need to support the project which has rightly been dubbed our national asset,” Obi said.
