NPFL Super 6: No team will get undue advantage over venue -Elegbeleye

Chairman of the nation’s league Interim Management Committee (IMC) Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye has assured that no team would get undue advantage over the season deciding Super 6 battle.

Elegbeleye who spoke in Lagos early this week at the IMC media parley said a lot of factors would come into play before a final decision is taken on the venue.

IMC’s Head of Operations, Davidson Owumi on his part further disclosed that Lagos and Abuja have been pencilled down as provisional venues.

“We are keeping the issue of venue very close to our chest. We will look at several factors before announcing it. First and foremost, we would want to be fair to the teams in terms of neutrality. We have to consider marketing, TV friendly nature of the venue and all that,” Owumi said.

It would be noted that the current NPFL season is an abridged one that would end with the Super 6. The Super Six would involve the top three teams from Groups A and B.

Insurance FC of Benin are already close to landing in the Super 6 after going 12 games unbeaten and topping the Group A log.

Other teams looking good for the Super 6 include defending champions Rivers United, Lobi Stars and Abia Warriors.
