Imo Guber Election : You Are Our Consensus Candidate, Okigwe Stakeholders Assure Uzodimma

Ahead of this November 11th, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC scheduled Governorship election in Imo State, the people of Imo North Senatorial Zone under the auspices of Okigwe Stakeholders have unanimously resolved and adopted incumbent Governor Hope Uzodimma of All Progressives Congress, APC as their consensus governorship candidate for the election.
The people took the decisive decision last Saturday in a critical stakeholders meeting presided over by His Eminence S. K Uche, the emeritus Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria and assisted by HRH Eze Oliver Ohanwe ( Obi gburugburu of Igboland), the Chairman Okigwe Global Elders Forum, OKGEF, the non governmental organization that initiated and sponsored the well attended meeting.
The highly publicized meeting was held at the ancestral but paradise on earth massive compound of Chief Tony Chukwu ( Onweghi ihe kariri Chineke) in Umuawuchi Umueze 1 of Ehime Mbano LGA of Imo State.
The meeting which was well represented by elder statesmen, astute politicians, business icons, religious leaders, traders, artisans, youths, women, farmers, students etc from the 6 Local Government Area that constitutes the senatorial zone, that’s Okigwe, Onuimo, Ihitte Uboma, Obowo, Isiala Mbano and Ehime Mbano Local Government Areas.
Each of the council area nominated a spokesperson on their behalf which included Dr. Mrs Agatha Uwakwem, Ambassador Eddy Onuoha, Barr. Marcel Ogwuegbu, Mr. Emma Agu, Prof.Chigbu Ajaero and Rt. Hon. Jonas Okeke all x-rayed the human capacity building, transformational and developmental programmes and projects, the governor have done in their areas and gave thumbs-up.
They also described Governor Uzodimma as a good and worthy friend of the senatorial zone and gave him 100% pass mark in his yet to be completed first tenure as well as vote of implicit confidence to his governance.
Earlier, HRH Eze Oliver Ohanwe, the traditional ruler of Ihim ancient kingdom and the Chairman, OKGEF, the architect of the meeting said that, the essence of the meeting is to sustain the unity of purpose among Okigwe people and for them to appraise the performances of Governor Uzodimma’s 3R and Shared Prosperity mantra vis-viz their people and the zone, which he insisted will determine their stand in their participation in the state’s future electoral processes.
Adding her voice, Mrs. Izuchi Duru, the SSA to the Governor on Beautifications said that Okigwe senatorial is one of the major beneficiaries of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s visionary leadership and people oriented governance.
Duru applauded the Governor for building Owerri – Okigwe express road noting the road as a tonic, towards accelerated socio economic development of the senatorial zone, while also decrying neglects from previous administrators of the State.
She further pointed out that, the area has tremendously benefited from the Governor’s giant stride achievements in educational, health, agricultural and economic transformations and developments as well as in human capacity building, insisting that one good tenure deserves another.
Prof. Chigbu Ajaero who summarized the people’s contributions informed that they are in one page, and with the conviction that Governor Uzodimma’s transformational initiatives and infrastructural revolutions as envisaged in his 3R and Shared Prosperity administrative mantra, that Okigwe as a senatorial zone and people overwhelmingly benefited.
Ajaero said it point-blank that he agreed with the people that the Governor has demonstrated and truly justified that, he’s a true friend of Okigwe people and have shown them love through construction of quality roads in the area and appointment of their sons and daughters into juicy political positions.
That in view of the Governor’s patriotic commitments and sound leadership qualities, that they have unanimously adopted him as their consensus governorship candidate in the forthcoming governorship election and passed a vote of implicit trust and confidence to his administration.
Highlight of the meeting was the moving of a motion for adoption and implicit confidence by Barr. Ifeanyi Agwu and was unanimously endorsed as officiated by His Eminence S.K Uche with Prof. Maurice Iwu expressing overwhelming support and satisfaction.
Among the dignitaries that attended the crowded critical meeting were: Chief Cosmas Iwu, the Secretary to Imo State Government, Hon. Patrick Ndubueze, the Senator Elect for Okigwe, Princess Miriam Onuoha, Hon. Chike Okafor, Rt. Hon. Kennedy Ibe, the Speaker Imo House of Assembly, Dr. Love Inih, Chief Emeka Okoronkwo, High Chief Bright Chimezie-Njoku and Barr. Jerry Egemba.
Others include Chief Longers Anyanwu, Mrs. Nkechi Mbaonu, Mrs. Rubby Emele, Chief Vernatius Ihechere, HRH Eze Goddy Okeke and Hon. Emma Ibewuiro among litany of other personalities.
