Maduakor promises quality games at Amputee Zonal football championship

As the ongoing National Amputee Zonal football championship enters Day 2 today, President of Amputee Football Federation of Nigeria, Paul Maduakor has assured football fans of quality games even as he called on government and corporate organisations to give financial support to the Federation to enable it move the sports forward.
He told newstap.com.ng  at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, venue of the tournament that the competition which attracted players from all the six geopolitical zones of the country is moving smoothly with the players displaying good football artistry to the delight of the fans noting that the players are ready to display their talents at the competition which will be used to select new crop of players for the national team.
“This championship is part of our efforts at further development of the game in the county and I’m not only happy with the turnout of the players and officials but the interest shown by fans in all the matches.
” It’s equally important that I appeal to government at all levels and corporate organisations to invest in the game because sports is a big business and capital intensive and we cannot do it alone.
He also expressed the hope that Day 2 of the championship will be more competitive because at the end of hostilities, qualifiers for the quarter finals will emerge
Meanwhile in Day 1 of the competition, North East played a goalless draw with South East while North Central defeated South South by a lone goal with North West defeating South East by 3-0 in the last match of the day.
