By Ifeanyi Eduzor

As the debate on whether the renew the contract of Super Eagles’ handler, Jose Paseiro continues to attract reaction from football stakeholders, former Super Eagles player, Jide Oguntuase has joined the millions of Nigerians who want the football house to jettison renewing the contract of the Portuguese.

In an exclusive interview with newstap.com.ng, Oguntuase queried why his contract would  be extended when he has not done anything to show he’s a good tactician and  was emphatic that the NFF should look inwards and engage a local coach to thinker the team.

” I’m really concerned on why the NFF should still be interested in having Jose Peseiro as the Super Eagles gaffer. To me, that’s wasting tax payers money because he has not done anything to justify his continuous stay in the country.

” I believe that it’s high time we do away with the idea of hiring a foreign coach because we have quality coaches in this country who can deliver once the right environment is created for them to operate.

“Although many people are arguing that the Portuguese qualified us for the next AFCON finals but they fail to ask themselves the type of opposition he faced in picking that qualification.

Oguntuase noted that for Nigerian football to move forward, an experienced local coach who understands our environment and the psychology of the players should be engaged and such a person mandated to visit some league venues to discover some of the talents who abound in our various leagues”, he stressed.
