Mighty Man Crowned AIWF Africa heavyweight wrestling champion
Nigeria National wrestling heavyweight champion, Mighty Man has added another feather to his cap by winning the AIWF Africa heavyweight title.
The dreaded Mighty Man, did this in grand style by defeating Cameroonian, Al Bateos at the just concluded Pro- Wrestling Africa championship held last Sunday at the Gymnasium Hall of the National Institute For Sports ( NIS), National Stadium Surulere Lagos
The fight which was keenly contested, saw both wrestlers showing wrestling skills to the delight of hundreds of fans who trooped out to the wrestling venue to watch the best of wrestling style on display
At the end of the 12 minutes of the 15 minutes time limit allocated to the fight, it was the Nigerian champion who carried the day with a pinfall.
Speaking shortly after he was presented with his belt, Mighty Man declared that the title is a stepping stone to his having a crack at the world title, vowing that he will not relent until he achieves it
“I’m very happy winning the African title against a very formidable opponent. He really stretched me beyond the limit but thank God that I was able to curtail his gimmicks and win the title.
“This title, I won today means a lot to me because it will serve as a stepping stone towards my going for the world title which has been my ultimate ambition and I will not stop fighting until that goal is achieved.
Mighty Man also used the occasion to commend Pro- Wrestling Africa for all they’re doing to move the mats man game forward in the continent.
” I must have to commend PWA for what they’re doing to make sure that professional wrestling take it’s rightful place in the continent.
“We wrestlers are ready to support them succeed because when they succeed, all of us will enjoy the benefits of the game”, he stated
Meanwhile, in the other fights of the night, Nigerian Jimmy Palm a.k.a “The African Dream'”, defeated Jimmy James of Zambia to win the AIWF Intercontinental Heavyweight title while,
Le Maboule of Cameroon defeated De Miser of Ghana for the PWA heavyweight title
Also in the Triple Threat fight, Black Tiger of Cameroon defeated
Hulk Power of Benin Republic and Mr Frederick of Nigeria to claim the PWA Triple Threat title
In the only female fight of the night, Lady Jena Swift defeated Lady Earthquake Favour in their fight.
