NSC Steps Up Preparations for Maiden National Intermediate Games, Inspection Tour Holds in Lagos
As preparations intensify for the maiden edition of the National Intermediate Games, the National Sports Commission (NSC) will undertake a comprehensive inspection of competition venues and participate in high-level consultative meetings in Lagos State from June 2 to June 4, 2026.
The visit, which follows ongoing collaboration between the NSC and the Lagos State Sports Commission, is aimed at assessing the level of readiness for the Games and ensuring that all critical operational requirements are in place ahead of the event.
During the three-day exercise, officials of the National Sports Commission and members of the Main Organizing Committee (MOC) will inspect designated competition venues, ancillary facilities, athlete accommodation centres and other key infrastructure earmarked for the successful hosting of the Games.
The delegation will also engage with officials of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and other stakeholders on technical, logistical and administrative matters related to the competition.
The inspection visit will provide an opportunity for strategic consultations between the NSC, the Main Organizing Committee and the Lagos State Sports Commission, with discussions expected to focus on venue preparedness, athlete welfare, security arrangements, transportation, medical services and overall event delivery standards.
A courtesy visit to the Governor of Lagos State is also scheduled as part of the programme, underscoring the strong partnership between the Federal Government, through the National Sports Commission, and the Lagos State Government in delivering a successful and memorable maiden edition of the National Intermediate Games.
The Commission reiterates its commitment to ensuring that the National Intermediate Games serve as a vital platform for talent discovery, athlete development and the advancement of grassroots sports across the country.
