Nigeria, Diaspora Above 50 teams to honour International coordinator Are Oyefeso @70 with novelty match

Arrangement has been concluded by Nigeria Above 50 team to play a novelty match with their Diaspora counterparts in honour of their international coordinator, Elder Are Oyefeso popularly known as Babademo, who will be celebrating his 70th birthday on Friday, June, 5, 2026.

According to the programme of event released by the organizers, the novelty match sponsored by B4 Sail Finance Limited supported by HEN Foundation is in honour of a great icon, music promoter, a rare gem and music supreme king who has touched the lives of many both in Nigeria and the United States where he’s based and will be played at the Bariga Stadium, CMS Primary School, Bariga, Lagos.

Speaking on the match, Jamiel Eniola, who is based in the United Kingdom whose Foundation, Hen Foundation is sponsoring the novelty match said that they’re fully prepared for the match, noting that noting is too much to be done to celebrate the music promoter and icon.
” We’ re fully prepared for the novelty match which will be used to honour and celebrate an icon who has touched the lives of many people both at home and in the Diaspora.
” My Foundation Hen Foundation is the one providing the trophy, souvenir, jerseys and medals and we in the Diaspora want to make it a big and successful event.
Eniola who works with the United Nations and is an Oil and Gas magnet, further stated that the Diaspora team is fully prepared for the match, expressing confidence that they’ll emerge victorious.

Collaborating him, another Diaspora player, Olu Osuma A.K.A DJ Sotan who resides in New York, who said he has known Elder Are Oyefeso for more than 20 years commended him for touching his life when he first arrived in the United States, with a promise that the Diaspora players will make the novelty match a carnival like event

“Right now, we’re in contact with all our Diaspora players in all over United States and Europe and they’ve all promised to be in Nigeria for the match because the celebrant one way or the other touched our lives and as he joins the septuagenarian club, the
novelty match will be a perfect way to celebrate such an icon who played a big role in our lives”, he concluded.
Also speaking, another Diaspora player, Omo Oba Adedapo Agbana who lives in New Jersey and doubles as a music promoter , described Oyefeso as a great man and philanthropist which necessitated them coming together to organize a novelty match for him, noting that the chairman of their forum in New Jersey, Timothy Okiola, popularly known as Botima, a well know business man in the United States is carrying out proper mobilization of members towards a successful match.
