Sporting Supreme, 1472 FC Become First Clubs To Fly For Games In New NNL Season
On Thursday 16 November, 2023 Abuja based Nigeria National League Football Club, Sporting Supreme at 4:15 in the afternoon flew out from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to the Sultan Saddik Abubakar International Airport, Sokoto to honour their Conference D Match Day One encounter with Kebbi United.
The Ginginya Memorial Stadium situated on Ibrahim Dasuki Road in the City of Sokoto, the adopted home of Kebbi United was the venue for the Conference D encounter where a 2-1 away win by the new comers Sporting Supreme, made another first in the new season by beating their more illustrious opponents in an away tie under coach Daniel Itodo.
Coach Itodo’s side drew the first blood in the 14th minute via a penalty converted by Imamu Bala before Kebbi United under the tutelage of veteran coach Rabiu Tata drew level in the 31st minute through Amah Kabir who converted a penalty kick.
Coach Itodo and his wards shocked book makers with a sealer in the 56th minute after Ebrima Manneh dribbled his way through Kebbi defence line to score the second for the visitors to keep all three points in their bag.
Another NNL New comers 1472 Football Club of Lagos also on Friday, flew from the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos to Uyo aboard Airpeace to keep a date with Dakkada Football Club at the new Uyo Township,Akwa Ibom State.
1472 FC Club Media Manager Peter Owoloko further disclosed that the Club will fly back to Lagos after their duel in Uyo.
Incidentally both Sporting Supreme are among the privately owned clubs in the NNL.
It would be recalled that the new NNL season began last Saturday with the Opening Day One tie at the new-look Lafia City Stadium, home side Nasarawa United who edged Zamfara United 1-0 in a fierce encounter.
