Oyo Gov, top govt officials to declare close YSFON/ Ilaji U-16 tournament

The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, the state’s Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Wosilat Adegoke and other top government officials will grace the finals of the maiden YSFON/IlajiĀ  Hotels and Sports Resorts U-16 boys championship.
The finals which will be decided today will beĀ  played between Ilaji FC and Ekiti state team.
To get to the finals, Ilaji FC defeated Sanusi FC 2-0 just as Ekiti state defeated their counterparts from Kwara state by 2-1 to book a place in today’s finals.
Prior to the finals, sponsor of the tournament who also doubles as theĀ  CEO of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort Center, Engr Dotun Sanusi presented sets of jerseys to the organisers of the tournament.
Engr. Sanusi who was represented by the Chief Operating Officer of the HotelĀ  Prince Adesina Araoye stated that the decision was borne out of the zeal to promote grassroots football even as he commended YSFON for their efforts at grassroots football development.
” These jerseys are just a token of our appreciation to YSFON for what they’re doing in developing talented youths in football and we hope that these jerseys will go a long way in motivating the players”, he said
Receiving the jerseys on behalf of the National President of YSFON, Dr. Nasiru Gawuna, the Federation’s Vice President South/ West, Abayomi Rafiu Alabi andĀ  the Secretary General of YSFON, Patrick Okpavuerhe commended the sponsor for the donation with an appeal to other corporate organisations to emulate him and help in grassroots football development.
” We at YSFON are happy with the jerseys which will go a long way in motivating our youths move their game forward.
“It’s equally important we appeal to corporate organisations to emulate what Engr. Sanusi did because government cannot do it alone.
Meanwhile, about 17 players have been discovered by the scouts led by Dr. Justin Fenech, President (SwieQi FC), Timothy Gingell,(CEO), Saviour Damanin, Assistant Technical Director and Henry Ekezie,(scout) Architect,Etienne Fenech(consultant).
