EFCC confiscates Betta Edu, Safiya Umar-Farouq’s passport
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has seized the passports of the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, and her predecessor, Sadiya Umar-Farouq.
A source in the EFCC said the passports of Edu and Umar-Farouk were seized to deter them from fleeing the country while the investigation into alleged corruption scandal in the Ministry continued.
It would be recalled that the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs was this week suspended on the orders of the President following allegations that more than N500 million belonging to the Ministry was paid into different private accounts.
